About Whitney Beach
Whitney Beach sits at the north end of Longboat Key and spans both sides of Gulf of Mexico Drive. Most homes line Bishop's Bayou on the bay side, in low-rise buildings and single-story villas. A separate group of residences sits across the road on the Gulf side, right on the sand. Homes run from about 940 square feet up to about 1,500, with one, two, and three bedrooms.
Two docks reach out into Bishop's Bayou, with boat slips for resident boats and a boathouse to gather in. From there it's a clear run to Sarasota Bay with no bridges. There is also a fishing dock and kayak launch with storage. Two heated pools serve the bay side, and a third sits on the Gulf side.
Across the road, the Conservancy is private land the community owns. Residents and their guests walk through it to reach a wide, quiet stretch of Gulf beach. The Conservancy also holds a play area, picnic tables, shuffleboard, and tennis courts striped for pickleball. Owners may rent their homes for a month at a time, up to six times a year, and the Longbeach Village shops and restaurants are just up the road.
